ROUGH STORYLINE FOR MY FILM

Now that I've completed the detailed research into genre I have a good idea of typical storylines, themes, character types and conventional tropes of the romantic comedy genre. So now I am going to put together a rough storyline for my film. 

ROUGH STORYLINE FOR MY FILM: 

It is about two high school students. their parents have been lifelong best friends, meaning they have to be in each others lives, but their personalities are completely different. The girl is competitive, loves school and the boy is cocky, sarcastic and the captain of the baseball team. 

Every interaction from them turns into an argument. One day, the girl accidentally texts the wrong number whilst ranting about a school project. 

The person on the other end (who turns out to be the boy) replies with witty banter and they start exchanging messages. At first it's just casual conversation but as time goes on they find themselves opening up in ways they never have with anyone else. They share secrets, dreams and frustrations, completely unaware of who is on the other end. The tension in real life grows worse but their text conversations become the highlights of their days and they start falling for their online texting partners. They eventually decide to meet at a coffee shop for the big reveal. 

When the boy walks in she assumes she's been stood up, but to save face, they both pretend to have been ditched and share a table, bonding over their supposed heartbreak. Over time their coffee shop meetings become regular and without the pressure of their families and school rivalry they begin to see each other in a new light. They slowly fall for each other in real life whilst still texting their anonymous crushes. Then there is a big conflict (don't know what yet) and during an argument she texts her anonymous texting partner about the fight. She sees his phone light up with a message right in front of her. This realisation hits them hard. After the initial shock they reflect on everything and really they've already fallen for each other. 

They finally confess their feelings in real life. In the end they embrace their rivalry and love, realising their connection was inevitable.
