ANALYSING OPENING SCENES FROM ROMANTIC COMEDIES - CONCLUSION

 Now I am going to list all the characteristics of romantic comedies that come up a lot in the opening sequences so that I can try and include them in my own opening sequence: 

1. Production companies associated with the genre











2. Music - usually the music used in romantic comedies is up-tempo pop or hip-hop

3. Font of titles - there are many font conventions associated with romantic comedies such as, script or serif font, soft lowercase letters, rounded, curvy letters, pastel or bright colours for the typography

4. Includes props that are associated with love

5. Actors names - star power is often used in romantic comedies, and there are many actors who are particularly associated with the genre







6. Lighting - typically high-key in the romantic comedy genre

7. Location - often urban locations, romantic capital cities, or in teen rom-coms high schools



8. Represents key romantic comedy themes such as love, friendship and marriage

9. Presents common rom com character types such as the confidante or characters who are binary opposites but fall for each other despite their difference
