ANALYSING OPENING SEQUENCES - CONCLUSION

Having looked at a number of opening sequences from films from a range of different genres I've noticed that the following conventions occur frequently: 

Production company logos/idents (the movie logo)

Titles - either over images or over a black screen

Indication of genre iconography - through the visual clues that you associate with genre - setting, costume, props, lighting

Introduction of characters and their traits

Introduction of setting

Creation of enigma/mystery
